The Institute's State and Local Government Internship Program provides an opportunity for West Virginia University's students to engage in public service projects and to assist state and local government officials in their efforts to serve the citizens of West Virginia.

The Institute also sponsors an on-campus Speakers' Series that focuses on issues of interest to West Virginia's state and local government officials, co-sponsors with the West Virginia University Department of Political Science the web-based courses, PS 220 State and Local Government, PS 230 Introduction to Policy Analysis, PS 321: West Virginia Government, PS 493C Great Books in American Politics and PS 493L American Federalism & Policy and engages in funded research projects with both state and local government agencies.
